Anti Hail Nets
Anyone who farms apples knows the feeling: one twenty-minute hailstorm and the whole season’s crop is gone. An anti-hail net is not a one-year expense — it’s an 8-to-10 year piece of orchard infrastructure. The right product lowers your insurance premium, protects fruit grade, and lets harvest crews work without scanning the sky every afternoon.
Filesan’s anti-hail net is knitted from HDPE monofilament (single-strand high-density polyethylene fiber) in a leno cross weave. The structure breaks falling hail on its surface and acts as a cushion before any load reaches the fruit. The crystal-clear option transmits more than 85% of natural light, so apple, cherry and stone-fruit color development goes uninterrupted.
Where it is used
- Apple, peach, apricot, cherry orchards. Standard infrastructure across Europe, Turkey, the Caucasus and the Mediterranean.
- Vineyards. A V or flat-top configuration covers the canopy and reduces both hail and excessive rain droplet impact.
- Citrus and avocado. Mediterranean coastal protection against early-summer hail and bird strike.
- Auto dealerships and storage yards. Used widely in continental climates to prevent dent damage on display vehicles.

Why bulk buyers choose Filesan
We work with growers above 50 ha, export-oriented cooperatives and turnkey project contractors. Cost per hectare, structural compatibility with your post-and-cable system, warranty terms, spare-parts logistics: we lay each of those out plainly.
For grant-funded projects, the technical data sheet and UV-test certificate ship preassembled. Send us your orchard area and the average hail size in your region; we return a weight recommendation within 24 hours.
Frequently asked questions
Does the crystal-clear color affect fruit color?
No. With over 85% light transmission, color development on apples and cherries is indistinguishable from open-field growing in independent trials.
What’s the rough cost per hectare?
Net plus posts plus installation lands in the USD 8,000–15,000 per hectare band. Variation comes from site geometry and target hail size.
Can my crew install it without external help?
Possible on small parcels. Larger orchards benefit from a tensioning crew; poor edge stitching shortens net life by years.
About the Filesan Expert Team behind this page
Anti-hail netting is one of those products that gets better only through long-term grower feedback. The Filesan field team visits major orchard regions every spring; we record how last season’s nets aged, where edges parted, whether eyelets corroded — and that data feeds the next batch recipe.
Our R&D bench includes a polymer chemist tuning the monofilament recipe and HALS dosage in ppm, a textile engineer adjusting mesh geometry, and an agronomist running cost-per-hectare math against your post system. We prefer orchard-by-orchard solutions over one-size-fits-all contracts.
